Hope // April’s Word of the Month + A Prayer for the World

I don’t think I need to do much explaining for this word of the month, so I’ll keep this brief.

It’s a dark time right now, it really is. There’s a new virus raging the earth, and many, many people are sick. Lots of people are sad, depressed, and afraid as they sit quarantined in their homes, wondering what the future will hold. The world could use a little hope right now. Allow me to quote from one of my favorite books, The Hunger Games:

“Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.” – President Snow

^^^That is 10000000% true. No matter how afraid we may be right now, we can have hope in the fact that God is in control. He is using this pandemic for something – we don’t know what yet – but He will work this out. We need to have hope hope for the future and trust in His perfect plan. I know it’s difficult, especially since we’re we’re stuck at home trying to keep our minds off what’s going on outside, but it’s going to be okay. Have hope in the Lord, and He’ll come through not only for you, but for the world.

Lord, I come before You today to pray for the world and everyone in it.

I pray for those who are sick with COVID-19, and who are suffering because of it. Please place Your healing hand on their bodies and help them to come through this illness stronger than they were before.

I pray for those who have lost loved ones to this virus and are mourning for them. Please help them through this difficult time by comforting them and bringing them peace.

I pray for those who are at risk of contracting this virus. Please keep them safe and healthy inside their homes, and help them to take the appropriate actions to stay well.

I pray for the doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who are working to stop this virus and help those who have it. Please give them the wisdom, knowledge, and strength to be able to do their job to the best of their abilities, and to carry the emotional weight of watching people suffering.

I pray for those who are stuck in foreign countries and are unable to get back home because of travel bans. Please comfort them, keep them safe, and be with them and their loved ones as they wait.

I pray for those who have lost their jobs or are struggling financially during this time. Please comfort them, keep them safe and healthy, and give them the means to get through this difficult time.

I pray for those who are quarantined at home, and who may be feeling anxious, stressed, afraid, lonely, sad, or depressed. Please comfort them and use the people in their life to provide support and help.

I pray for those who do not know You during this time, and that through this pandemic, they come to know You. Please show them who You are, and allow them to be exposed to Your forgiveness, mighty power, and everlasting love.

I pray for anyone else whose life has been affected by this virus in any way, shape, or form. Please help them through their individual struggles and needs during this time, and provide them with the comfort and peace that only comes from You.

And finally, I pray that You slow the spread of the coronavirus, and that You ultimately allow it to be stopped. Please use the people on this earth to find a solution to this pandemic, and guide them to the means to do so. I pray that You give everyone on earth hope at this time, and that You reveal Your mighty hand of healing through this pandemic. Please help us to hope and trust in You and Your perfect plan, even though we don’t understand why. Thank you for Your everlasting love, grace, and mercy, and please continue to give us comfort and peace during this time.

In Your name I pray,

Amen.

I hope you all are staying safe and healthy during this time, and that you’re doing alright during this quarantine. Have a good week everyone, and remember: there is hope! :)

  2. I loved that prayer, Meredith. โค I especially pray for all the healthcare workers, because they really can’t stay home and I read something the other day that said 15% of the people who end up getting it are healthcare workers, since the disease is so contagious.
