Hello everyone! I hope you had a lovely Easter yesterday! :)
I don’t know about you, but since we’ve been quarantined for so long, my brother and I have had to get pretty creative with things to do around the house. Some of the things we’ve spontaneously done have been…. interesting to say the least. We’ve been known to come up with some shenanigans before, and the past few weeks have been no exception. So today, I thought I’d share a few of our quarantined adventures as a way to document this strange time. Let’s see, where should I start?
Well, I guess the very first thing I did when I found out I was to be confined to my house for the next month was to *drumroll please* chop my hair off. O_o
Ok, here’s the thing: I had actually been planning on cutting my hair for several weeks, but my appointment to have it done was cancelled due to obvious reasons. So, I did what I had to, which was make the cut myself. And honestly, it turned out pretty good for an at-home haircut. I was very pleased with it, until……
I’m not kidding, mere DAYS, nay, HOURS after I had DIY-ed my haircut, I began seeing all these memes about people cutting their own hair in quarantine… and messing it up.
Um, I happen to like my short hair thank you very much.
The next notable thing that we decided to do was to make a Harry Potter short film, starring my 11-year-old brother Garrett as Harry, Ron, Neville, and Voldemort (aka, every single character in the short). Things were going great until we realized that we needed some sort of, um, alteration in the face region for Voldemort’s costume. I decided to try using some leftover face paint to achieve the desired look, so I began to search for it.
After what felt like years spent scouring our house, our face paint was nowhere to be found. We eventually had to face the cold reality of the situation – our face paint was lost forever.
Determined to think of something else, we brainstormed several possible alternatives before we landed on the best one. The result was, well,
absolutely hideous. Featuring a small trashbag as a bald cap, my brother sported a chunky, white, flaky paste made of, yep, flour and water all over his face, made by yours truly.
As I was filming him with this revolting concoction clinging to poor little face, I had a horrifying thought: what if he has a wheat allergy and this absolutely destroys his skin?!
It didn’t, thank goodness, and the short film turned out great in the end. :)
It’s always fun to get mail, right? I’ve been busy writing lots of letters to many different friends recently, and trying my hand at envelope/letter art. I’m hoping to improve as I continue to write more letters! XD
Another thing we’ve been trying to do is get outside as much as we can. There are a couple of short hiking trails near our house, and we have always loved to explore and play on them! The other day, Garrett and I went on a little excursion to some of the trails to re-explore them, and our Mom gave us one rule before we left: “don’t. get. muddy.” (I am notorious for that by the way.) As we were on the trail, one thing led to another, and as we were tramping through the mud, I suddenly remembered my mother’s words, and could hear them echoing in my ear.
*gulp* too late.
(Don’t worry, we cleaned our shoes with water from the garden hose when we got home, and my Mom had somehow foreseen the turn of events and expected the outcome, so we’re all good.)
You thought I was finished fooling with my hair, didn’t you? Well, you thought wrong, my friend. Soon after I chopped it, I, for some reason, decided to dye it… again. Heh.
I was pretty happy with the results, and it’s supposed to wash out in a few weeks, so hopefully it won’t be in my hair forever like *cough* that blasted Kool-Aid.
The night before Easter, we went over to our neighbors’ house to hide eggs for their little girls to find the next morning – they had as much fun finding them as we did hiding them! We hid eggs all over the yard, and wrote a special message from “The Easter Bunny” on their driveway. Oh yeah, Garrett would like me to add that he drew lots of Easter Eggs on their driveway as well. XD
Aaaannndddd it rained that night. Our message got washed away, along with the egg drawings. The hidden eggs survived though, and we always have next year to try again. :)
I’ve also received many memes from my friends recently (not that that’s unusual), so I’ve decided to grace your screen for a moment with a few of my favorite selections from the past few weeks. Behold:
ANYWAY, I hope you enjoyed this post, and that you’re finding creative ways to stay busy during this time. If you need some inspiration, check out this post for some ideas on how to stay occupied!
What fun things have you been doing during the quarantine? Have you cut or dyed your hair yet? XD Let me know in the comments below – I’d love to hear from you!
Have a great week everyone! :)
